Dear Parents of Graduating Seniors,
It’s almost over! The journey that your student began 13 years ago will be finished in a couple of weeks! These last few days will be busy. This letter is a summary of all that is planned for the Class of 2008. We certainly want all seniors to participate in all of the activities; let’s work together to maintain appropriate school behavior.
Upcoming events and activities:
The Hornet Envelope: Last year we began a new tradition
at
Prom: Prom will be held on Saturday, May 3rd from 8:00 until 11:00 P.M., at the
Georgia Railroad Freight Depot in
Yearbook Dedication and Senior Picnic:
The yearbook dedication and senior picnic will take place on Wednesday, May 14th after 3rd period. Following the dedication yearbooks will be distributed to the seniors. They will then proceed outside where the senior picnic will take place. Announcements will be made at a later date with details on the picnic.
Baccalaureate:
This is an inspirational service sponsored by parents of the
Honors Night:
This special evening will be on Wednesday,
May 21st, 7:00 p.m., Roswell High School Auditorium. This is an evening set aside to acknowledge
seniors who have been recognized for achievement in academics, athletics, or
leadership. Invitations will be mailed
to those students being honored and their parents; however, all are invited to
attend. A copy of all award and
scholarship notifications must be given to the secretary in the Counseling
Office by May 8th so you may receive an invitation. Seniors will assemble in the auditorium lobby
at 6:30. Students will wear cap and gown for Honors
Night. Please note on your scholarship
form if you will be accepting or declining the scholarship offer.

Wednesday, May 21 3rd and 2nd periods
( Make – up exams at 1:00)
Thursday, May 22 4th and 6th periods
( Make – up exams at 1:00)
Senior Breakfast and Graduation Rehearsal: The breakfast will be held on Friday, May 23, at 9:00 in the cafeteria. After breakfast at approximately 11:00 seniors will practice for graduation. To allow students time to prepare for commencement, the graduates will be dismissed around 12:30 P.M. Students must attend rehearsal if they plan to walk on Friday evening.
Graduation: The graduation ceremony will take place on Friday, May 23, 7:30 p.m. in the
Alternate
Plans for Graduation:
Since we have a strong desire to graduate
on Friday we will wait out the weather up until but no later than 9:00 p.m. At
any time up until 9:00 the Administration and the Graduation Committee may
decide that the ceremony needs to be postponed until Saturday. If the ceremony
is moved to Saturday, the students will report to the school at 8:00 a.m. and
the ceremony will begin in the stadium at 9:00 a.m. If the weather is still not
permitting us to hold the ceremony outside then the plans will be as follows:

· The second ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. for students whose last name begins with the letters M-Z. Students need to report to school at 1:00 p.m.
The school phone line, 770-552-4500, will be open for calls beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday
for graduation information.
Honor Cords: Students who have a numeric average of 88 or higher are honor graduates.
Congratulations!
Honor cords will be worn with your cap and gown at Baccalaureate, Honors
Night, and Graduation. The cords are
available in the Counseling Office. The
cost is $8.00 payable only by check made out to
National Honor Society: NHS stoles have been ordered and are available from Mrs. Williams in E 104.
Beta Club: Seniors who have their required 20 points will receive a Beta tassel to be worn on their caps at graduation. Students who have met the requirements – both service and meetings – can pick up their tassel in G 106 after May 16th.
Videos Available: A recording of the Graduation Ceremony and Senior Honors Night will be available in either DVD or VHS format. The cost is $19.95 each or $30 a set. Order form is included with this letter.
Final Transcript: The seniors will be receiving a transcript request form in their English Class. This form, along with a 9x12 envelope stamped with two postage stamps and addressed to the college to which your final transcript should be mailed, is due in the Counseling Office by the last day of school, May 23rd. If you want your transcript mailed to more than one address, please include a stamped, addressed envelope for each one.
